VestMonitor — continuous portfolio monitoring
Told when something changes, not on a schedule.
What is VestMonitor?
VestMonitor is Vestmind's continuous portfolio monitoring product. It watches an investor's holdings, allocation and goals after the analysis is done, and raises a notification only when something has materially changed — drift past a threshold, a new concentration, a development at a company held, a goal moving off track.
A portfolio analysis is true on the day it is run. Prices move, allocations drift, funds change mandate, companies report, and goals come closer. VestMonitor is what keeps the analysis true without the investor re-running it — and, more importantly, what stays quiet when nothing has actually changed. An alerting system that fires daily trains people to ignore it.
What it looks at
What VestMonitor looks at
Allocation drift
Distance from the target mix, against a band rather than a date.
Concentration
New concentration created by price moves or by a purchase.
Holdings
Developments at the companies and funds actually held.
Goals
Progress against each goal's funding path.
Portfolio changes
New positions, exits and fund mandate changes.
What it does
What VestMonitor does
Threshold-based alerts
A notification when a measurement crosses a threshold, not when a period ends.
Holding-level developments
Results, guidance and material disclosures for what is actually held, filtered from everything that is not.
Goal tracking
Each goal's funding path, and a warning while there is still time to act.
Drift bands
Allocation bands the investor sets, so rebalancing is prompted by distance rather than by the calendar.
A portfolio-aware assistant
Questions about the portfolio answered with the portfolio as context.
A record of what changed
What moved, when, and what it did to the analysis.
How it works
How VestMonitor works
The method, in order. Each step is described in full in the Vestmind methodology library.
Establish a baseline
The current analysis and the target allocation become the reference the watch is against.
Set thresholds
Drift bands, concentration limits and goal tolerances, defaulted sensibly and adjustable.
Re-measure
Holdings are revalued and the portfolio measurements recomputed as prices and disclosures change.
Compare
Each measurement is compared to its threshold and to its own previous value.
Filter
Only a crossing becomes a notification. Movement inside a band is recorded, not raised.
Explain
Each notification states what changed, by how much, and what it means for the plan.
Who it is for
Who VestMonitor is for
After the analysis
You have a plan and a target, and want to know when the portfolio drifts away from it — not a daily digest of price moves.
Too many holdings to follow
You hold enough stocks and funds that reading every company announcement is not realistic.
Long-term goals
You want to hear early when a goal moves off track, while there is still time to adjust.
Questions between reviews
You want to ask about your own portfolio in plain language and get an answer with your holdings as context.
Illustrative example
VestMonitor in practice
- 1 allocation alert
- Equity reached 71% — outside its 60–70% band — and VestMonitor said so once, with the holdings that moved it.
- 1 company development
- A held company disclosed a rise in promoter share pledging. The alert linked the disclosure and the company's weight in the portfolio.
- 0 alerts for ordinary price moves
- Daily swings inside the band produced no notifications at all.
- 91% → 78% home goal funding
- Flagged as moving off track after contributions paused for two months.
Three notifications in a month, each about something that changed and each with its reason attached. Silence the rest of the time is the product working.
Compared
VestMonitor compared with the alternatives
| Approach | What it tells you | What it cannot see |
|---|---|---|
| Price alerts in a broker app | When a stock crosses a price you set. | Your allocation, your goals, and whether a price move changes anything that matters. |
| Portfolio tracker | Daily value and gain. | Drift against a target, concentration building up, and progress towards goals. |
| Market news feed | Everything that happened. | Which of it concerns a company you hold, and at what weight. |
| Annual review | A thorough check, once a year. | The eleven months in between. |
| VestMonitor | Material changes to your holdings, allocation and goals, raised only when they cross a threshold. | Automatic trading: VestMonitor never rebalances or trades for you. |
Your data
Your data
Read-only by construction
Vestmind reads holdings, positions and balances. No broker adapter implements an order method, so there is no code path that could buy, sell or move anything.
Secrets stay on the server
Broker API secrets and access tokens never reach your browser, and the page never calls a broker directly. The exchange happens between Vestmind's servers and the broker.
Not sold, not shared
Portfolio data is used to produce your analysis and is never sold. It is shared only with the providers needed to deliver the service, such as your broker, or where the law requires.
Your control
Connect or disconnect any source, update your information, download your data or request deletion at any time.

FAQ
Common questions about VestMonitor
Everything you need to know about VestMonitor before getting started.
Contact usWhat is VestMonitor?
VestMonitor is Vestmind's continuous portfolio monitoring product. It watches an investor's holdings, allocation and goals after the analysis is done, and raises a notification only when something has materially changed — drift past a threshold, a new concentration, a development at a company held, or a goal moving off track.
How is monitoring different from tracking?
A tracker shows the current value whenever you open it. Monitoring watches for the specific conditions that would change a decision and tells you when one occurs. The first needs you to look; the second needs you not to.
When does VestMonitor send an alert?
When a measurement crosses a threshold: allocation outside its band, concentration above its limit, a goal's funding path falling behind, a material development at a holding, or a change to a fund's mandate. Movement that stays inside a band is recorded and not raised.
Can I set my own thresholds?
Yes. Drift bands, concentration limits and goal tolerances all have sensible defaults and can be changed. A threshold you set is a threshold you will act on.
What does VestMonitor watch?
The portfolio's allocation against its target, look-through concentration, the companies and funds held, each goal's funding path, and structural changes such as a new position, an exit or a fund changing mandate.
Does VestMonitor trade or rebalance automatically?
No. Vestmind does not execute trades and does not take custody of assets. VestMonitor raises the finding; the investor decides, and can take it into VestStudio to test the fix first.
How often does VestMonitor check?
Continuously, as prices and disclosures arrive. The frequency of checking and the frequency of notification are deliberately different — the point is to check often and speak rarely.
What is the portfolio assistant?
A conversational surface that answers questions with the investor's own portfolio as context: why a notification was raised, what a holding contributes to a risk, what a change would do. It answers from the same analysis the rest of Vestmind produces.
Do I need VestFolio before VestMonitor?
Yes, in practice. Monitoring is measured against a baseline, and the baseline is the portfolio analysis. Connecting a portfolio produces the analysis; the watch starts from it.
How does Vestmind handle financial data?
Holdings are used to produce the analysis and the watch, and are visible only to the account that owns them. Broker connections are read-only, Vestmind does not execute trades or take custody, and portfolio data is not sold or shared. The privacy policy sets out what is retained and how to delete it.
